The Magic of Cinema
The 2024 Duffield and Hazelwood Scarecrow Trail saw 70 scarecrow displays dotted all over the two villages for what turned out to another successful event over five fun-packed, and occasionally wet, scarecrow-filled days. For 2024 the trail celebrated ‘The Magic of Cinema’ with several cinema-magic scarecrow creations including Minnie Mouse, Minions, Barbie, Mary Poppins to name a few.
We’ve had a number of ‘firsts’ in all the years that we’ve been running the Scarecrow Trail, but 2024 was the first time the trail was blighted by torrential rain! The wet weather pretty much held off until the Saturday afternoon… and then the downpours began… and just didn’t stop! Luckily the rain didn’t deter any hardy scarecrow hunters from enjoying the fantastic array of film characters and actors on display throughout Duffield and Hazelwood.

- Duffield News, Treetops Duffield Charity Shop and Kale & Corn for selling scarecrow brochures for us
- All the local businesses that donated some brilliant raffle prizes
- Eleanor and Juliette, April, Alex and James; Steph and John; Roy; and Maggie and Justin for helping us man the Scarecrow Hub
- Safe and Sound Group for lending us their gazebo. Boy, did we need it!
- Broadway Studios, Pat, the residents of Lime Avenue and the Weston Centre for providing refreshments
- And last, but most definitely not least, thank you to everyone who came and supported the Trail by buying a trail map and raffle tickets – we hope you all had a great time!
