Scarecrow Trail 2026 Chosen Charity
As well as proving a thoroughly enjoyable event for everyone who attends, the Duffield & Hazelwood Scarecrow Trail also aims to raise money for a local good cause.
For 2026 our chosen charity is Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre, an organisation that provides holiday places for children who, due to financial disadvantage or other reasons, may not otherwise get a break. The centre provides over 450 five-day holiday places every season (April-October) at its purpose-built centre in Skegness.
For many children, a break with Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre is their first experience of the seaside, their first chance to make new friends, or their first time feeling safe and carefree away from difficult home circumstances. They return home with more than memories. They come back with greater confidence, new life skills, moments of pure joy, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
A stay at Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre isn’t just about a holiday. It’s about giving children space to breathe, believe in themselves, and see a world that feels a little bigger and brighter.
